The Services makes up most of the economy. Many Filipinos depend on money being sent from home family members who work in different countries. 32% of the labor force is made of people farming. However, droughts and flooding can ruin the production of farming. The crops that are the most important to Filipinos are corn, abaca, coconut, tobacco, sugarcane, and rice. There are also exports from the Philippines such as chemicals, electronics, minerals, furniture, and clothing.
Most Filipinos that are in the middle class own a car, the people who don’t own a car depend on public transportation. Public transportation in Manila includes taxis, buses, airline, ferries, Banca, and jeepneys. Jeepneys are based off of old U.S. military jeeps with walls.
A recent study by the Department of Health says that the air in Manila the people breathe contain pollutants. The worst victims that could breathe the pollution are children.
Manila will has to make many changes to solve the problem. The way the Department of Health sees it in two basic steps. The first step is to take preventive measures that way the pollution stops getting worse. Next, clear the pollution that is already there.
Pollution is caused by two things. One is the exhaust from motor vehicles. Also, the exhaust from factories. The U.S. and other countries use leaded gasoline, most countries it was banned for safety reasons.
